Dr. Ozair Chaudhry

Dr. Ozair has been involved with agricultural research & development for over 20 years and  organizational training & teaching at undergraduate institutions in Pakistan and Canada for 8 years. He supervised graduating students in research thesis and report writing. Above 50 publications on his credit include refereed research articles, reviews / analyses, professional reports, lessons, book chapter and scientific abstracts. His  latest book chapter in 2010 has been selected by the North American Herbicide Resistance Committee and is posted on WSSA/USA home page:  www.weedscience.org. He is a member of the editorial board of the refereed journal, “Annals of Plant Protection Sciences” since September 2008. As Research Scientist, he planned, executed and monitored research experiments in field crops with special emphasis on weed control and pesticides related issues. His research focus was on absorption, translocation, metabolism and residue effect of herbicides in plants, soil and environment. In the training and development sector, he coordinated with team leaders in specialized disciplines to develop demand oriented training modules for a global clientele. Ozair has completed professional consultancies for local and international agencies. He organized international conference (1996) on, “ Post Harvest Technology for Vegetables” in collaboration with MINFAL-PARC-APO Japan. As OIA Director, he organized 2010 Conference and AGM in Nigara, Ontario on, “Nourishing our Neighbours While Feeding Billions”. He has been associated with writing team of the nation's supreme document on agriculture, "Report of National Commission on Agricul­ture".  He is co-author of Research Master Plan PARC 1988-2000. Ozair lead agricultural training institution at National Agriculture Research Centre (NARC) and was deputed for a short term as Program Manager, in Agha Khan Rural Support Program in the Northern Areas of Pakistan where he strengthened community based organizational adult training. Since 1993, he worked as program leader of Horticultural Research Institute at NARC, with an additional responsibility as in-charge of the World Bank project (ARP-II). Later, he served as Director Training Institute at NARC. In this role, he served as part time / visiting faculty at Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi and taught courses in plant biology. Since 2002, he is teaching Biology and Environmental Science in public sector collegiate institutions in Toronto, Canada, recently in Albert Campbell Collegiate Institute (NS). The City of Pickering appointed him Trustee/Board Director for public libraries (2006-2010). He was elected  Director of the OIA Board, Ontario Institute Of Agrologists (2 terms March 31, 2009-March 31, 2012). He lives in the City of Pickering, Ontario, with his wife and two children.
